A Kansas nurse says she shares a bathroom with a separate department and was told not to use it for “Number 2.” According to her, the restroom is located beside their offices in a “poorly ventilated hallway,” and staff members allegedly complained that they could not tolerate the odor. A sign was reportedly posted to discourage anyone from stinking up the hallway, but the nurse says she has no intention of following their demand.
In her post on r/mildlyinfuriating, CrystalKU explained that she hasn’t reported this petty bathroom sign to HR since she allegedly will be moving from this other department down the hall in a few months. She said she wishes to “keep the peace,” but plenty of Redditors believe that a trip to human resources is the ideal move here.
“HR would like to speak with the person hanging that sign,” remarked a user, suggesting the nurse not wait any longer to make a complaint. Others criticized whoever put up the bathroom banning sign, questioning what co-workers are supposed to do.
“No one wants to poop at work. If they are doing it, they need to do it,” wrote a commenter. “Yeah, sure, just hold it in all day,” sarcastically quipped another, detailing how they’d retaliate against such co-workers. CrystalKU chimed in, agreeing with the sentiment, saying, “We are at work for 8.5 hours a day, if I gotta go, I gotta go.”
The Nurse Claims She Was the ‘First Offender’ of Causing a Stink in the Office
In the comments, the Kansas nurse also explained why this sign was placed on the bathroom door in the first place; according to her, it was her fault. “I was the first offender to prompt the sign,” she wrote, adding how the “please” was later written after her co-worker also made a stink in the other department’s office. “I get their point that a stinky poop probably does linger but like also, we are adults. Deal with it,” she concluded.
That said, even after the OP revealed that she was the reason behind the sign, there was little sympathy for those who posted it. While the employees down the hall may have been bothered by the smell, most Reddit users agreed that no one should police how a bathroom is used.
