Nevada Streamer Swarmed by Police After Parking Lot Trespassing Mix-Up: ‘Why Are They Pulling up on You Like That’

A skating streamer began recording in a parking lot in Las Vegas, Nevada, unaware that he was trespassing. Although he left as soon as he was asked to, a security guard still called the police. Moments later, responding officers surrounded him.

I respect the job and the responsibility that comes with it, and I even considered becoming an officer in the past. I am posting this for my own safety because I am still scared and shaken by what happened and I want there to be a clear record of it. I longboarded into an empty parking lot from the sidewalk. I rolled from the sidewalk to a parking lot with cars, then into one with no cars. There were no signs posted that I saw, and I did not climb any fences, break through any barriers, or go anywhere that looked restricted. I made 4 videos before livestreaming, which I am not posting right now. Then I livestreamed longboarding in the parking lot for 35 minutes. About 15 minutes in, the stream and I saw the police pull someone over across the street. I didn’t say/do anything or even think much of it. A chat commenter eventually said I should go back to a parking garage, so I started leaving. As I was leaving, someone told me it was private property and that I needed to leave. I didn’t know I couldn’t be there, but that was no problem as I was already leaving. Four minutes later, after I had been on the sidewalk and mostly waiting at a stoplight, multiple police cars came up on me at a very fast speed and slammed the brakes close to me. I genuinely thought they were going to hit me. I was very scared, but I complied with everything they told me to do. They took my phone away from me, stopping me from recording myself, handcuffed me, and accused me of running from police. I did not run from police. I had already left when I was told to leave, and I followed their commands. While I was still live, I was made to say my address and Social Security number out loud, and my chat heard it. This sits extremely unwell with me. That is why this version is edited. I am seeking legal advice about possible unlawful detention, retaliation for recording, phone seizure, emotional distress, excessive force or reckless stop, and compelled disclosure of my Social Security number and address.

The sudden escalation was shared online by Henry Poston, a popular content creator known for posting videos of himself lying face-up on a skateboard, often with food placed on his chest, while delivering mostly motivational messages. He appeared to recreate the same routine at the location shown in the clip above, which has since garnered 585,100 views, 48,300 likes, and more than 1,200 comments.

As noted in the clip’s description, Henry rode his longboard from the sidewalk into an empty parking lot in Nevada. From his perspective, there were no posted signs indicating restricted access, and he did not climb over any fences or bypass any barriers. It appeared to him that the area was open and unrestricted. With that understanding, he recorded several of his usual skating clips in the vacant parking lot.

However, after approximately 15 minutes, he noticed police patrol units pulling up across the street. As he was leaving, an individual—possibly a security guard—told him he needed to leave and then proceeded to call the police.

Just minutes later, Henry was standing on the sidewalk, waiting at a stoplight, when multiple police cars approached him, as shown in the clip. One officer, seen and heard in the footage, even slammed on his brakes near the content creator, startling him.

“I genuinely thought they were going to hit me. I was very scared,” the man wrote.

Shared Social Security Information

Henry said he was handcuffed and that police confiscated his phone. Most of the footage showed a black screen as he spoke with the officers, while the skater repeatedly apologized for being in the parking lot. The officers appeared understanding and eventually released Henry with a warning.

However, he accused the officers of forcing him to state his address and Social Security number during the livestream, a portion that was later removed from his TikTok reupload. He also said he was accused of fleeing from police, though the footage did not appear to support that claim.

Deeply distraught, Henry knelt in the Nevada street for a long time after the officers had left. He was, to say the least, in a state of shock.

Internet Reacts to the Nevada Police Encounter

Many viewers reacted to the clip, stunned by how quickly the situation escalated. One person wrote, “Why are they pulling up on you like that…” Another commented, “You had to do more de-escalation than them.”

Other viewers emphasized that he was allegedly forced to provide his Social Security number. One wrote, “Law enforcement is not allowed to ask for or demand your Social Security number.” Another went even further, adding, “Stop answering questions. Stop explaining yourself.”

According to Henry, he is currently seeking legal advice on how to proceed following his experience. The prevailing view among viewers is that he may have a strong, potentially winnable case.
