A woman in Washington spent months believing her symptoms were signs of menopause. However, she later discovered she was pregnant at 40 years old—and, even more surprisingly, that she was already eight months along. Her fifth child is now expected to arrive very soon.
The unexpected revelation was shared online by Ash Stotts, better known as chaos_coordinator86. A baby boutique owner and mother of four, Stotts regularly shares a wide range of content with her audience. The clip above quickly became one of her most popular videos, attracting 349,500 views, 31,200 likes, and more than 1,600 comments.
The Washington woman, who is soon to become a mother of five, shared that she and her husband have been together for nearly 19 years and currently have four children. She also explained that she has polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a condition that can cause fertility challenges. As a result, she underwent fertility treatments for each of her pregnancies and has, sadly, experienced five miscarriages.
Unexpected birth
At 40, she had recently begun to believe she was experiencing symptoms commonly associated with menopause, including hot flashes. But during a visit to the doctor, she learned the truth: she was nowhere near menopause. She was eight months pregnant with her fourth son.
“We’re gonna have a baby in about eight and a half weeks.
In another update, Ash gave viewers a clearer look at why the pregnancy was so easy for her to miss. She shared photos of her previous baby bumps and placed them alongside images of her current one, making the difference immediately noticeable. In the older pictures, her pregnancies appeared much more visible, with the kind of rounded bump many people would typically associate with being further along. This time, however, her newest bump is almost non-existent, looking far less pronounced than what she experienced in the past. That contrast helped explain why Ash did not realize what was happening sooner. Combined with the fact that she had not been feeling her unborn child move in a way she recognized, the lack of a noticeable bump made the pregnancy much easier to overlook. For someone comparing the experience to past pregnancies, the absence of familiar physical signs likely made it even more confusing. Her update added important context for followers, showing that her situation was not simply a matter of missing obvious symptoms, but rather a pregnancy that presented very differently from what she had experienced before.
