A New York woman tried to share a disposable grill with firefighters in honor of Father’s Day. However, when she attempted to light it directly outside the fire station, some firefighters reportedly threatened to call the fire marshal. She was also told that the grill “could be a bomb.”
The woman in question is Aiyanna, a popular content creator who shared the brief exchange on TikTok. Known for vlogging her interactions with strangers, she often posts moments similar to the one involving the firefighters. In just over a day, the clip went viral, amassing 816,700 views, 122,200 likes, and more than 300 comments.
Aiyanna approached the FDNY Engine 303 and Ladder 126 firehouse in Jamaica, New York. After ringing the bell, she was greeted by two young firefighters. She explained that she had brought them a disposable grill to share in celebration of Father’s Day. According to Aiyanna, she decided to bring it to the fire station because, if she tried to use it herself, she might “burn her house down.”
Eager to share sausages with the firefighters, the woman set up her grill in the street directly in front of the fire station. She then struck a match to light it, but the firefighters quickly intervened, warning her not to proceed.
“It’s not gonna make an open flame, I promise,” Aiyanna said. One firefighter responded, “Now go back to your house and do that in the backyard.”
Other firefighters joined the grill situation. Just like the previous ones, they were not willing to partake in the attempted sausage barbecue. One of them said that starting a fire in front of a fire station was not a “good look,” while another pointed out other potential risks, as unlikely as they may be.
“We don’t even know, honestly, who you are, what this is,” the firefighter said. “This could be a bomb. A little suspicious to me. Might have to call the fire marshal over here.”
Aiyanna was eventually asked to leave before someone called the fire marshal on her. Still, that didn’t stop her from lighting the disposable grill out on the street. As the flames began to grow, she quickly admitted that the setup didn’t seem safe. She then tried to cook the sausages, but they kept rolling off the grill. In the end, she was left with dirty, burned sausages and had to pour water over the grill to put it out.
“This is a waste. This is a waste of sausages, this is a waste of everything,” the woman said before grabbing the grill and taking off.
Social Media Weighs In
The video sparked a range of reactions online, with some viewers criticizing the firefighters’ lack of enthusiasm. One person commented, “They did not pass the vibe check,” while another asked, “Wouldn’t a fire station be the safest place to do this?”
Other viewers, already familiar with her content, were stunned that she had been turned down. One commented, “This is the first time I ever heard somebody tell her no.” Another wrote, “First time you were ever told no. This is history.“
Whether the misunderstanding was simply an act of caution or an awkward overreaction, the encounter clearly struck a chord with viewers online. For many commenters, it served as a reminder that even the most well-intentioned gesture can sometimes take an entirely unexpected turn.
