Working in the food service industry is no small feat, which is why one South Carolina man, who has dedicated more than 21 years to working at McDonald’s, was honored for his commitment and hard work. The recognition appeared to be a surprise organized by McDonald’s and its staff, and when the moment was revealed, the longtime employee was visibly moved—just moments away from breaking down in tears.

This man has been working for Mc Donald’s since Sep of 2004 and they bought him a bicycle…..

A heartwarming moment unfolded for Montrell of Greenville, South Carolina, better known online as MontrellMcFly. The longtime McDonald’s employee has reportedly worked at the same South Carolina location since September 2004, bringing his tenure to 21 years and three months. In recognition of his dedication, Montrell was apparently gifted a bicycle to help him get to work more easily.

In the now-viral video filmed inside the McDonald’s kitchen, Montrell can be seen surrounded by co-workers as he delivers a heartfelt thank-you speech. “Today, when I came to work, I had a ride, I didn’t walk, I came fresh and neat, clean clothes on. They gave me a bicycle… This is a blessing in disguise,” Montrell says, visibly holding back tears. “Thank God for every person that put a dime in this, for my hard work,” he adds.

It remains unclear whether Montrell’s bicycle was an initiative of McDonald’s as a corporation or a gesture from his co-workers, who may have personally contributed the money. Either way, Montrell appeared genuinely happy and grateful for the gift after more than two decades of service at McDonald’s.

South Carolina Residents Think the Employee Deserved More

Despite Montrell’s gratitude toward those responsible for the bicycle, some online reactions were less enthusiastic. Several commenters argued that McDonald’s could have offered him something more substantial, especially if the gift had come from the company itself rather than his colleagues.

“They should buy him a car.”

Many others suspected the gesture came from Montrell’s co-workers rather than McDonald’s corporate leadership. Still, that did not stop one X user from urging the company to do more for its longtime employee.

“And it’s probably just the coworkers who bought this. McDonald’s time to step in and up the ante!”

“They wanted better for him.”

Montrell’s loyalty and hard work have clearly resonated with people beyond his workplace. Some of the most-liked comments online have called for the public to help him directly, adding another layer of goodwill to the discussion.
