A Texas family never imagined a simple bird encounter would erupt into viral internet mayhem. But after footage surfaced of a child being aggressively chased and attacked, online viewers were left divided over whether the clip was hilarious, terrifying, or a bit of both.
In the now-viral video, the startled child can be seen sprinting away as the bird repeatedly swoops down, while family members scream and laugh in the background. It remains unclear what sparked the bird’s aggressive behavior, but many viewers compared the chaotic scene to something straight out of a comedy sketch.
The video comes from @deedanielee, also known as Brandi, a TikTok creator with a modest following who typically shares lighthearted family and everyday-life content, from funny moments with her kids to unexpected real-life chaos. The clip has since gone viral, amassing more than 3.7 million views, over 30,000 comments, and 149,000 shares.
In the video, a Northern Mockingbird — commonly found across southern states such as Texas and Florida — can be seen swooping at and harassing a startled child as she plays with her puppy in a pushchair. The child runs away screaming for help, while the person recording, presumed to be Brandi, can be heard laughing at the sheer absurdity of the bird encounter.
Social Media Reactions
As the clip spread across social media, it quickly sparked a wave of reactions online, with viewers divided over whether the moment was hilarious, unsettling, or a bit of both. On TikTok, one viewer wrote, “i’m crying, what is the birds problem??” while another added, “all the ppl saying this isn’t funny grow up 😂.” A third user shared a meme of Chucky laughing into the camera, to which Brandi replied, “Yes I was🫣😂”.
However, not everyone saw the funny side. Others expressed concern, with one saying, “Am I the only one who doesn’t find this amusing?” and another sharing the same sentiment, writing, “This is not funny…I’m not sure why you think this is.”
Fortunately, based on available information, the child does not appear to have been injured during the encounter with the bird. Whether the moment was funny, frightening, or a bit of both, the internet still can’t seem to agree.
