A Florida homeowner in St. Lucie County says strangers have been illegally parking in his driveway and on his front lawn. Although he purchased the home fairly recently, the situation has grown increasingly frustrating, with drivers repeatedly treating his property like a free parking lot. Thousands of online users have echoed his frustration, and many suspect the vehicles may belong to people waiting for the bus.
“Is there a way to stop this?” Reddit user Relentx asked on r/mildlyinfuriating. “I’m guessing it’s people with their kids at a bus stop, but they park all over my yard and in my driveway.” In the photo he shared, a tan car appears to be parked directly in his driveway, while a black car is sitting on his lawn. He said the vehicles parked on the sidewalk don’t bother him as much, since they are along the public neighborhood road.
One Redditor shared a story about someone in a similar situation: visitors to a nearby stadium would regularly park on his property. In response, he obtained a business license and began issuing parking invoices. “If you put in the time to set up a business and offer parking, you could make money,” the commenter suggested.
Reddit Suggested Taking the Problem to the City Since a Bus Stop Is Involved
Thousands of others suggested that the homeowner contact his local transportation office about relocating the bus stop, as it appears to be the reason people are parking on his private property. Beyond potential solutions, many Redditors criticized those parking illegally on the man’s lawn—especially in his driveway.
“I can understand the logic behind blocking the driveway,” one commenter says. “But the yard? That’s so unbelievably inconsiderate and entitled that it’s honestly mind-blowing. What is wrong with people?”
Relentx has shared that he plans to move forward with the signage option by clearly notifying people that parking is not allowed on his property. If the signs prove ineffective, many strongly recommend contacting a towing service or involving the city, which would be the natural next step in ensuring that unauthorized vehicles are removed.
