A woman living in a Massachusetts apartment complex has allegedly been interfering with the building’s shared washing machines, leaving many of her neighbors frustrated. According to tenants, she has posted her own “out of order” signs on the machines and even unplugged them while other residents’ laundry was still mid-cycle. One renter, fed up with what he described as intolerable behavior, shared his experience on r/Apartmentliving, where thousands of users expressed their support.
Posting under the username Academic-Ad4060, the frustrated tenant shared a screenshot of a message from the apartment’s landlord, who accused the woman of tampering with the washing machines. According to the post, she has clashed with several tenants and has also interfered with the hallway doors in retaliation. “This latest incident with the laundry has really left the entire apartment complex frustrated with her,” Academic-Ad4060 explained.
As for why the Massachusetts woman seems so determined to keep others from doing their laundry, the tenant explains: “Apparently, the sound of the machines bothers her because she shares a wall with the laundry room. Because of that, she believes she has the right to unplug them, even when they’re in use.”
In private conversations about the possibility of evicting her, some residents have reportedly suggested that nothing can be done because she is a Section 8 tenant. “My question is, what can we do to make this lady stop?” Academic-Ad4060 asks, turning to Reddit for advice.
Reddit Users Suggest the Massachusetts Tenant Stay in Laundry Room or Install Cameras
One recommendation, echoed by several highly upvoted comments, was to stay in the laundry room while the clothes were washing in order to catch the woman in the act. “You can sit in the laundry room while doing your laundry and keep her from said ‘sabotage,’” one commenter wrote.
Some suggested speaking with the landlord about installing security cameras, while others offered rather mischievous ideas for getting back at the woman’s pettiness. “Who is this super dedicated petty person?” one Redditor joked. Meanwhile, many users warned the OP to be cautious when dealing with her, noting that he was “not dealing with a reasonable person.”
The tenant claimed that the woman “purposely swerved her car to hit” one of the neighbors in the parking lot simply because she “hates him so bad.” If the account is accurate, the situation may go far beyond petty annoyances, and authorities may need to intervene to ensure everyone’s safety, as one commenter suggested.
