A woman in New Mexico was on her usual morning run when a male driver suddenly began following her. He then started asking a series of inappropriate questions, prompting her to tell him to leave her alone before ultimately calling the police.
The unsettling encounter was shared online by Cassie B Fitness, a popular fitness content creator known for documenting her weight-loss journey. While she has posted several viral clips over the years, this video became one of her most successful, amassing 618,100 views, 57,500 likes, and nearly 2,500 comments.
The clip begins with a New Mexico woman on her morning run, already being followed by a man. While recording herself, she explained that he had driven past her, rolled down his window, and asked how her jog was going. She also noted that the car did not have a license plate and said the man had been following her for some time.
“I need to call the police. I’m freaking out. I’m freaking out. What do I do? Okay, I have a stun gun, I have a taser,” Cassie said.
Moments later, the driver caught up to her and rolled down his window again. He then asked, “Are you straight or a lesbian?” She replied that she was straight but not interested. She then firmly told him multiple times to leave her alone.
The woman ultimately called the police, who arrived at her location and escorted her home.
Safe At Home
Hours later, the woman sat down and provided additional context about the incident. She said she had gone out around 6 a.m. for her usual morning run through the rural area where she lives. As she neared a main road, a man approached her in his car. She said he immediately made her feel uneasy.
Cassie described how terrified she felt. She considered calling her husband, who was most likely asleep, and was prepared to contact the police about the man stalking her. When he asked whether she was straight or a lesbian, she had finally had enough. After the man remained in the road and she screamed at him, she called the police.
“Unfortunately, the area where I was running was in a different county from the one where I live,” the New Mexico woman said. “I live right on the county line, and in the county I had crossed into, there wasn’t a sheriff anywhere nearby. They had to call an officer from my home county, and they were about 10 minutes away.”
