According to 7SeraphKey, who shared her account in a post on r/legal, the man is her neighbor and allegedly flew his drone near her second-floor bedroom window. “It was not just passing by. It was stationary, camera lens pointed straight into my room,” 7SeraphKey recalled.
The neighbor insisted he was merely “checking out the neighborhood” and claimed his drone’s camera was turned off, an explanation 7SeraphKey believes was untrue. In her view, he had a reason for flying the device so close to her window. “I was half-undressed and felt completely violated by the whole thing,” she recalled.
After noticing the buzzing drone outside her bedroom, OP says she swatted it with a towel, sending it crashing onto the pavement below. Minutes later, her neighbor reportedly came to her home, visibly angry that she had damaged his property. “He is threatening to sue me for property damage and claims he has a right to fly in ‘public airspace’ even if it is over my private yard,” she wrote.
She says it feels “insane” that she is being held responsible for protecting herself from what she described as her neighbor’s “voyeur toy.” Many Redditors agreed, with thousands condemning the neighbor’s alleged behavior and supporting her reaction.

Many users continued to insist that the OP contact the authorities again, because the neighbor is obviously breaking the law. Even a user urged 7SeraphKey to cite a specific statute when contacting the police again, saying officers dismissed her concerns when she first attempted to file a report.
