An Illinois man claims he had “the most annoying ride I’ve ever had” after being driven home by a female Uber driver. In a post on r/uber, user U-Were-A-Mistake explained that he was the driver’s very first Uber passenger. During the 15-plus-minute ride, he said the experience was far from pleasant. According to him, the driver seemed unsure of what to do or where to go, forcing him to guide her closely all the way to his house.
“I had to keep my GPS on the whole time and give her step-by-step instructions, and she still missed like five turns and added 10 minutes to the trip,” U-Were-A-Mistake recalled in frustration. And that wasn’t the only issue. According to OP, the Uber driver kept talking despite his headphones and clear lack of interest in conversation. “I’m not trying to be rude, but it’s not your business,” he wrote bluntly, a sentiment hundreds of Redditors agreed with.
The driver allegedly asked what he was doing, where he was going, and what his plans were for the day, creating a nonstop, one-sided conversation that felt more like an interrogation to U-Were-A-Mistake. He also claimed she sped through his neighborhood, making the ride especially uncomfortable whenever they hit a speed bump. To top it all off, after dropping OP off at his house, the Uber driver reportedly sat in his driveway for 10 minutes while trying to get her bearings.
Reddit Users Agreed With the Passenger and Even Called Out the Driver
Although she reportedly said it was her first time giving an Uber ride, U-Were-A-Mistake was far from satisfied with the experience and rated her one star. Many Redditors joined the discussion, saying they would have been just as frustrated by a driver like the one this Illinois passenger described.

In response to the one-star rating, Redditor Negative-Soup3819, who claimed to be the female driver, posted on r/uber seeking support for her side of the story. However, the moderators of r/uber deleted the post, and several Redditors, including U-Were-A-Mistake, accused the poster of being a troll attempting to rage-bait readers of the original rant.
“I hope it made you feel good to tell thousands of people how awful I apparently am,” she wrote in a comment directed at U-Were-A-Mistake. He responded simply: “Fake story.”
