A woman in Boston, Massachusetts, posted a glowing review of a local coffee shop that quickly went viral online. While she might have expected appreciation—and, on the surface, she did receive it—she was also subjected to behind-the-scenes insults. According to reports, one of the coffee shop’s employees allegedly said she ate like a “pig.”

TikToker Abby Rose shared the coffee shop “trash-talking” story online. Her content typically centers on food reviews and fashion, along with occasional travel vlogs. Already known for several viral clips, this particular video became one of her biggest recent posts, drawing 757,000 views, 48,400 likes, and more than 500 comments.

The Massachusetts woman said she had been “trash-talked” by a coffee shop she had previously reviewed. The business in question is Muffin House Cafe in Mendon, which Abby reviewed on June 11 in a video that later went viral, attracting nearly 100,000 views. That level of attention is significant for both parties, especially considering the coffee shop had just 1,476 TikTok followers at the time of writing.

“I’m so happy to support this local business,” Abby said. “That’s what I love doing—championing local businesses.”

Massachusetts TikToker Claims She Was Insulted

However, Abby then received a random email from an anonymous source. Attached to it were several screenshots from a Muffin House Cafe group chat, which she claimed included their manager. Although she shared only one of the messages, it was more than enough to explain her anger.

“She eats like a pig, using her teeth to open everything. No manners. But I’m glad she enjoyed it,” the text message read. It was referring to Abby, who had opened two ketchup packets with her teeth while eating a breakfast burrito. The woman responded, “I feel so deeply disrespected.”

Worst of all, the Massachusetts woman said, this behavior had allegedly occurred on multiple occasions. She claimed she had been spoken about disparagingly every time she visited Muffin House Cafe, though she did not provide further details in the email.

“Are you kidding me? This is incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional on so many levels,” she said. “[…] I reached out to the owner, and I hope he responds soon because I would really like to speak with him. This is beyond unprofessional, and if your employees are behaving this way, it is completely unacceptable.”

Apology and Response

In a follow-up clip, Abby shared that the coffee shop’s owners had contacted her directly. According to Abby, they were “beyond receptive and beyond apologetic.” The coffee shop also responded publicly to her clip, stating that they would investigate the situation and take appropriate action.

“We want to assure the community that an internal investigation is underway and that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against the individuals involved,” the coffee shop said. “We offer our sincerest apologies, as this behavior goes against everything Muffin House Cafe stands for.”

Abby’s initial clip prompted a wave of responses, mostly from frustrated viewers. One person wrote, “They are way too overpriced for this attitude.” Another commented, “Imagine posting a sweet review, and instead of thanking you, the company does this. I’m so sorry, girl.”

Others continued to comment on Muffin House Cafe’s videos, criticizing the company even after it issued an apology. One person wrote, “Unfortunately, this must be the company culture if it’s happening regularly.” Another added, “If no one is fired, I’m not interested.”

Abby concluded her follow-up by saying she would likely never return to the coffee shop’s Mendon location. However, because of the owners’ welcoming attitude, she may consider visiting its other locations in Massachusetts.
