A traveling nurse has publicly criticized a Colorado gym, claiming they were harassed for using the facility’s showers without working out. They also shared evidence suggesting that the owner went out of his way to shame them publicly for doing so. According to the nurse, the owner discovered the shower use through the gym’s “24/7/365” camera surveillance system — an admission that alarmed thousands of people online.
Going by the username UserInfected, the traveling nurse posted screenshots of the gym’s warning, their negative Google Review, and the owner’s response on r/mildlyinfuriating. In their post, they explained that the gym advertises its showers as a membership benefit on the website.

“Turns out Anytime Fitness corporate has zero policy requiring members to work out before showering,” they remarked, saying that there’s a sign near restrooms that enforces this rule. UserInfected added that they don’t believe cameras are installed in the showers, so they claim everything that was in the warning email was presumably “an assumption dressed up as fact to intimidate” them.
Online Users Side with the Nurse and Even Began Review Bombing the Gym
Even though the nurse has since filed a complaint with corporate about the Colorado gym owner’s behavior, plenty of people also expressed their collective distaste for what happened. “The words ‘tracking’ and ‘shower usage’ shouldn’t be in the same sentence unless it’s about overuse of water, that’s so creepy,” wrote a commenter.
“Pretty stupid. If anything, the owner is the one getting better deal. It’s like walking to a buffet, not eating anything but using the restroom then paid full price,” added another. Others joked around, suggesting that UserInfected lift a dumbbell or two, then immediately head to the showers afterward as malicious compliance.
Unfortunately for the owner, readers of UserInfected’s story have since begun review-bombing the gym, with many arguing that camera surveillance near the showers is unethical. The owner has responded by claiming that the nurse has been banned for “repeat violation of clearly posted policies.” The gym owner clearly takes gym policy very seriously — even if that apparently includes keeping an eye on people using the showers.
