Calling ICE on workers—or threatening to do so—has become an increasingly troubling trend in the United States, regardless of the harm it may cause. One man in Georgia appears determined to keep that trend going after allegedly threatening a group of Hispanic workers in his neighborhood with a call to ICE. Unsurprisingly, the threat frightened the workers away, leaving his neighbors with unfinished yard work.
The incident occurred in College Park, Georgia, and was recorded and shared by TikTok user @nacho.el.gallo. The man in question—described by viewers as a male Karen—even introduced himself as a former janitor for ICE. He approached the Hispanic workers and insisted they could not keep the cement mixer rotating unless the truck was turned off and stationary. He then threatened to call ICE if they did not stop.
The irony is that cement mixer trucks are specifically designed to operate this way, even while in motion, to prevent the concrete from setting and hardening inside the drum. However, that detail did not seem to matter to the former ICE janitor, who appeared determined to drive the Hispanic workers away and continued to threaten the workers.
According to follow-up witness accounts, the Hispanic workers quit and left, forcing the homeowner to finish the yard work with only one helper remaining. It remains unclear whether the homeowner knew the former ICE janitor, but the janitor’s actions clearly affected the workers’ morale.
Georgia TikTokers React to the Male Karen’s Rant
While the former ICE janitor is far from the first person to threaten Hispanic people with a call to ICE, many online users appear to be condemning his actions even more strongly because he effectively disrupted his neighbor’s yard project.
“How pissed would you be if you were this guy’s neighbor, who just chased your construction crew off your project mid-concrete pour?”
Others mocked the man for behaving like a “male Karen” and for apparently not understanding how cement mixers work, despite acting as though he knew better than the professionals operating them.
“This describes that male Karen. Racism is crazy.”
In the end, some people were glad that this situation didn’t escalate, and that the workers chose to ignore the man instead of engaging with him further, and cause an unfortunate situation for them and maybe even the whole neighborhood. Still, due to the “Karen’s” actions, it remains to be seen if the work will ever be finished.
