Few professions test a person’s patience and stamina quite like waiting tables. Servers spend long hours on their feet, carry heavy trays, juggle multiple responsibilities at once, and often have to deal with demanding or disrespectful customers. Recently, a waitress at a family-owned Mexican restaurant in Virginia was caught on camera losing her temper with a rude customer and throwing two drinks at him. The dramatic footage has since spread widely online.
The clip reportedly shows an altercation at El Rodeo in Roanoke, Virginia, recorded by a bystander who witnessed the incident. In the footage, two customers sit at a table while a man wearing a blue shirt and a blue beanie starts shouting. He appears to be criticizing a waitress for speaking too loudly. Off camera, the waitress asks, “Who, me?” The man immediately replies, “Yeah!” — a remark that seems to spark the heated confrontation.
Although it is difficult to figure out what they said, the waitress is visibly upset and suddenly throws a drink at the rude customer. Furious, she shouts as another staff member steps in to restrain her.
Now soaked by the drink, the man repeatedly exclaims, “Whoa!” in shock. The waitress then fires back, “What, you think this is the internet?”
Virginia TikTokers Sided With the Waitress
The customer, visibly stunned, says, “Oh my god,” as he pulls out his phone, seemingly attempting to portray himself as the victim. In the background, the frustrated waitress snaps. As if one drink were not enough, the fed-up waitress then throws another one at the man. The person recording laughs at the sheer absurdity of the scene as the footage comes to an end.
As the clip gained traction online, social media users flooded the comments with reactions. On TikTok, one user asked where the altercation took place, writing, “Is this Cinco de Mayo in Lapine?” The original poster clarified, “No, it’s El Rodeo in Roanoke.”
Many users sided with the waitress, with one adding,
“I like her, I’m on her side.”
Meanwhile, on Reddit, most commenters also expressed sympathy for the waitress. One wrote:
“As a former waiter, I can say that some people should be more respectful to waiters.”
Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident. Yet, many believe that this should be a lesson to customers to be nicer to those serving their food and drinks. However, some also believe that this was an overreaction, and one that could lead to dire consequences.
