Florida python hunters made a remarkable discovery this season: two Burmese python nests located side by side, containing approximately 120 eggs in total. Deep within the dense, swampy terrain of the Everglades, the hunters captured the entire encounter on camera. The footage shows them removing both adult females and collecting the eggs from the nests. They described the find as one of the most intense and unforgettable discoveries of their careers.

The clip was posted on X, where it quickly captivated everyone from dedicated wildlife enthusiasts to viewers stunned by the sheer number of eggs. The fascination comes amid Florida’s ongoing Burmese python crisis. These invasive snakes have been devastating the ecosystem for decades, and despite sustained efforts by hunters and conservationists to control their population, the problem shows no sign of disappearing.

The footage shows the hunting team pushing through the dense vegetation of the Everglades. They discover a female Burmese python coiled tightly around a large clutch of eggs. While handling the snake and her nest, they notice movement nearby and unexpectedly find a second female guarding her own eggs, almost directly beside the first.

Together, the two nests contain roughly 120 eggs. The hunters remove both snakes and collect every egg, ensuring none will hatch. As they narrate the scene, genuine surprise is clear in their voices. The team describes it as one of the strangest double discoveries they have ever encountered in the field.

Burmese pythons are not native to Florida. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, they became established in the Everglades after being brought into the state as exotic pets.

Conditions worsened after Hurricane Andrew struck in 1992, destroying a breeding facility and releasing dozens of snakes into the wetlands. With no natural predators to keep them in check, their population grew rapidly.

A single female can lay 50 to 100 eggs at a time, making the removal of 120 eggs in one rescue especially significant. As the FWC notes, removing a breeding female from the wild does more than eliminate one snake—it prevents the many offspring she could have produced over her 20-plus-year lifespan.

Internet Reacts to Discovery of Two Python Nests in Florida’s Everglades

Online reactions ranged from stunned admiration to genuine alarm. Many focused on the sheer number of eggs, with one commenter writing, “That’s insane — an invasive species going wild. 120 eggs is no joke; that’s an entire future army right there.”

Others expressed utter disbelief at the hunters’ composure during the removal. One commenter wrote, “These guys must have some kind of superpowers or something — I just can’t.” Some viewers responded with dark humor, with one joking, “Imagine if the universe just decided to make a python omelette.”

Others voiced sympathy for the snakes, with one commenter writing, “This is terrible—imagine you’re relaxing in your living room next to your 120 kids’ room, and then someone suddenly grabs you by the neck.”

At least one viewer questioned the ethics of filming the encounter at all, writing, “Why disturb the animal for the sake of content?”

The overwhelming majority, however, focused on the ecological implications, with many describing the video as “pure nightmare fuel” and praising the hunters for their efforts in one of the country’s most unforgiving environments.

The video resonates because it gives a visceral, real-world face to a conservation crisis that many people understand in theory but rarely see so clearly. The scale of Florida’s invasive species problem becomes impossible to ignore when two enormous snakes are found side by side in the same swamp, guarding the possibility of 120 new pythons.
