Certain events have a remarkable way of uniting an entire community. One such instance was the effort to catch the so-called “bathroom bandit,” a man who had been secretly recording women using the restroom at the University of Alabama.
A video shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, captures a tense moment outside a restroom. In the clip, several people are seen waiting by the door as a man exits. “No, this is the one who was recording me, y’all. Call DPS!” one woman exclaims. As the man frantically tries to flee, another woman attempts to restrain him. Despite her efforts, he manages to break free, shoving past others and sprinting down the hallway while the group pursues him, determined to stop him.
“He’s got something in his pocket,” the person behind the camera remarked urgently. “Don’t let him go—that’s him. Get him, please,” she added, her voice tense with alarm. “Get that [expletive]!” a man shouted as the young woman who had been struggling with the suspect brought him down to the floor. Moments later, another man rushed in and pinned the culprit in a chokehold, holding him securely on the ground.
“Y’all, they finally caught the bathroom bandit! This man was at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama, secretly recording women while they used the restroom,” the person behind the camera explained at the end of the clip, which showed the suspect surrounded by police officers.
X users had plenty to say after watching the clip. “As soon as I heard ‘get that [expletive],’ I knew it was over for that guy,” one person joked. Several users praised those who restrained the culprit until security arrived. “Big kudos to the young woman who stopped the creep from getting away, and to the man who eventually tackled him. The rest were just useless onlookers,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Major respect to the guy who chased him down — love seeing men stand up for women!”
“Expulsion isn’t enough. Put his face on every billboard in the city so everyone knows exactly who they’re looking at,” one netizen remarked bluntly.
