Pedro Pascal has become the new target of many internet users due to being “too touchy” with some of his co-stars, most recently, with Vanessa Kirby, who portrays Sue Storm in The Fantastic 4: First Steps. While Pascal has openly said that he suffers from anxiety and needs to touch someone to calm down, a lot of people are now seeing his behaviour as predatory. Still, a lot of people defend Pascal, claiming that his co-stars do not feel uncomfortable, and also, Pedro has been “touchy” with male co-stars in the past.
Pedro Pascal Has To Touch Someone After An Anxiety Attack, But People Are Criticizing Him
The reason this became a debatable topic is due to one of the recent premieres of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Throughout the film’s press tour, Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby have been somewhat affectionate with each other. Ever since Pedro Pascal and his co-stars attended the film’s panel at SDCC, we saw how he would grab Kirby’s hand to fight his anxiety. At that time, people looked at it with different eyes and even showed empathy towards Pascal. Now, however, he’s being scrutinized hardly.
In the recent event, Pedro Pascal stops Vanessa Kirby during an interview, and they both start talking. Pedro asks Vanessa, “Where have you been?” And she responds, “I’ve been busy.” To which Pascal replies, “You can’t leave me alone that long.” Pascal moves his hands to grab Vanessa’s waist, and Vanessa laughs, saying, “I know.” They exchange a few other words, and Pascal says, “We’re very co-dependent.” And the clip ends with Vanessa leaving and Pedro saying, “Just like I’m very co-dependent on films.”
Normally, this wouldn’t be a big issue, especially since he’s done this with other co-stars. However, people supposedly noticed Vanessa’s strange body language. Some say she moved Pedro’s hands away from her waist, and others make note of Pedro being way too touchy as soon as he saw her. Furthermore, many claim that he’s been way too affectionate with Kirby, ever since the film started its production and press tours.
Yet, many fans claim that Vanessa and previous co-stars have never been bothered by Pedro, and frankly, that’s what we see in a lot of clips. Every time Pascal grabs someone, no one complains, and in some cases, they even touch Pedro back. One example is the following clip.
As you can see, Vanessa is also touching Pedro’s hair during an interview, meaning it goes both ways, and not only Pedro Pascal trying to get “touchy” with Kirby.
Ultimately, this has created two sides, with some defending the actor and some criticizing him.
“Not even a Pedro Pascal stan, but while the men are writing think pieces about him and projecting themselves onto him, he continues to create a safe environment with the women he works with, and that’s why they get along with him.” – One user in X posted.
“Pedro Pascal is the first man that’s gonna be canceled by other men for inappropriate behavior with women,” Another user said.
In the end, who are we to judge, especially if Pedro Pascal has discussed his condition with his co-stars and they seem to be okay with it? Yes, it may look strange without context, but if everyone’s onboard, then that’s up to Pascal and the other actors. On the other hand, this could all be just a marketing strategy to make Pedro and Vanessa look like the perfect couple to promote the film. They portray characters who are married in the film, so that could be a thing, too. Everything is a bit uncertain now.
