A Florida-based influencer is stirring controversy on TikTok after revealing that he falsely claimed to have diabetes during a heated dispute with restaurant staff in Miami. The argument arose over the restaurant’s policy prohibiting outside beverages. According to the influencer, the incident began when the host at the entrance informed him that he could not bring in his coffee cup from a nearby hotel.

Still, he managed to bring the cup into the bar area moments later and began arguing with staff that it was a medical necessity. He told them he had “something” in the cup that would help keep his blood sugar up and that their actions were not only against the law but were discriminatory toward someone with a disability.

The influencer claimed that both the general manager and a woman he identified as the owner did not accept his explanation and insisted the cup be removed. He also alleged that the owner tried to provoke an aggressive reaction from him, but he said he remained calm and refused to escalate the situation. He ultimately decided to leave the restaurant rather than continue the confrontation, fearing the owner might call the police on him.

“They were discriminating, and that’s the weird part to me,” he said, later narrating to viewers that he was simply trying to test whether the staff would make an exception if they believed he truly had diabetes. He argued that they wouldn’t have known the difference and that their refusal still felt wrong to him.

    How Netizens Are Reacting

Since the content creator admitted in the video that the medical claim was fabricated, many netizens felt his argument about the restaurant having the “worst customer service ever” fell flat, noting that the establishment was well within its rights to enforce its policy.

One person criticized his tactic, writing, “I hope they sue you.” Another remarked, “We really aren’t mean enough to influencers.” A third comment asked, “Is this just rage bait for engagement?” while a fourth wrote, “You sir are 100% wrong in this situation.”

Still, a few reactions leaned toward criticism of the restaurant rather than the Florida influencer. One netizen commented, “That’s their loss and that’s why a lot of restaurants fail!” while another added, “No outside drinks allowed is crazy.”
