A mother in California is demanding justice after shocking surveillance footage emerged showing a daycare employee throwing a shoe at her 5-year-old daughter with special needs, inside a classroom. The situation became even more shocking as people discovered the daycare withheld the footage for a long time, making everything even worse.
The incident took place at the Destiny Development Center, a state-licensed daycare facility in Inglewood, California. In a video that has since circulated widely online, a young child is seen crawling away from a small mattress positioned on the classroom floor while several daycare employees sit nearby.
At one point in the footage, a woman seated several feet away removes her shoe and forcefully throws it toward the child. The shoe appears to strike the girl, who immediately begins crying loudly. Moments later, the same worker walks over, picks up the child, and tries to comfort her, repeatedly apologizing and insisting she did not intend to cause harm. Meanwhile, other staff members in the room appear to react casually, with some even laughing.
The child’s mother said she was heartbroken after viewing the footage weeks after the incident.
When Jones confronted the daycare’s director shortly afterward, she was told that the facility would review the footage and speak with the teacher involved.
Danielle Williams, the daycare’s director, later told KTLA that the employee involved—identified as Miss Emily—was immediately fired. Williams added that the other employees present at the time were initially suspended for failing to report the incident and were later terminated following further investigation.
People Outraged After Watching the Footage
Naturally, this footage caused widespread outrage, as several people thought it was deplorable that the former employee did this.
“Imagine what else was going on that was never reported.“
Several people were worried that the footage didn’t get out for weeks, with several individuals believing that other things might have happened behind closed doors that no one has reported.
Others kept criticizing the teacher, especially her actions against a special-needs child.
“This is a criminal offense against a helpless special-needs child.”
In the end, several others were glad that the daycare fired the woman, hoping that she would stay away from children in the future.
