Some people just seem to be unable to go a day without trying to farm attention, especially in the form of likes and follows. It’s relatively harmless if it’s your typical social media influencer doing their thing, but a first responder while on the job? Just, no. That said, a Harris County police officer in Texas decided to make a joke out of her department’s reputation by uploading a TikTok video of a cringy trend.
And not just any TikTok trend either–one with distinct sexual implications. The trend in question is to state you’re going to do something undesirable because you didn’t get laid last night. So, the Texan cop posted that she “din’t get cracked last night so everyone is getting a ticket.” There’s nothing wrong with a little wholesome joke or two at work, but what this officer did was downright unprofessional, disrespectful, and immature. According to Houston City Beat, she has since deleted both the post and her TikTok account.
The Cop’s TikTok Post Triggered Backlash and an Internal Investigation

While plenty of simps were pleased with the officer’s post, plenty more were disturbed, if not second-hand embarrassed. “If a cop is saying on an online video, it is no longer cool,” remarks a Redditor. “This person is allowed to make decisions that affect people? What garbage and trash is in Texas?” another questions in disbelief. Another added that “you would have to be an absolute moron to make that joke from a position of power with a negative slant against the community you’re supposed to be serving.”
A few commenters added that a vet also uploaded a similar TikTok post, saying that they would put down animals because they didn’t “get cracked last night.” Maybe it’s cool slang with the kids, but many people have had enough of adults with important professions trying to gain cool clout. “Stupid TikTok trend, idk which came first but they’re clearly referencing something and making jokes in poor taste,” remarks a Reddit user.
Several Redditors came out defending the police officer, saying that it was just a joke and she probably didn’t mean for anyone to take it so seriously. Whether that’s true or not, the fact still remains that she chose to be unprofessional and embarrass herself and her department for a TikTok joke. Considering that she deleted the post and her account after being investigated, do you think she was doing the right thing with her post? I, for one, think not.
