Hulk Hogan, the wrestling legend, has passed away at the age of 71, and people have had mixed reactions about his death. While many remember him as one of the most legendary wrestlers in the world, he had many controversies surrounding him, mostly those that showed him as a racist person. Now, people all over the world are on two opposite sides, with some cheering about his death and others mourning for him.
Hulk Hogan Dead at 71 From a Heart Attack
Several outlets reported the news about Hulk Hogan’s passing. He died at the age of 71 from a heart attack. This is the second celebrity to pass away in a week, but contrary to Ozzy Osbourne, Hulk Hogan’s death is filled with controversy and two completely different reactions.
For one, many people are mourning the passing of this wrestler. Many former colleagues, such as Triple H, have paid their respects to the departed WWE member. However, surprisingly, some have started celebrating this man’s passing, primarily since he was known as a racist and, most recently, an avid Trump supporter who went on a rally to praise the now President.
For the unaware, Hulk Hogan appeared at a rally before Trump got elected, saying, “Let Trumpmania run wild!” He also claimed that Trump was the “toughest of them all.”
Yet, the biggest controversy dates to 2015, when a tape of him emerged with him saying a racist slur. At the time, the WWE removed him from the Hall of Fame, but he was reinstated three years later.
Still, people never forgot, and less so after watching him become an avid Trump supporter. As you know, the current President has not been welcoming to immigrants in the country, so seeing Hogan back Trump up just adds more fuel to the racist, xenophobic fire.
With all that in mind, his passing has been a bag of mixed reactions. If you look at X right now, or any other social platform, the majority are glad that this man is no longer with us.
Like the above post, other people have given their opinions on the comment, which aren’t that friendly toward the wrestler.
“You are remembered for your actions. Hulk Hogan was a WWE legend who shaped pop culture globally. He was also a horrible person on many, many accounts.” One X user wrote.
“Some will remember Hulk Hogan as the face of the most popular period in pro wrestling history. I’ll remember him simply as a racist.” Another user commented.
Ironically, Hulk Hogan’s death coincides with the date when the racist tape emerged, which many have also pointed out in a lot of comments.
Ultimately, it is strange to see how recent celebrity passings can be so different from one another. On the one hand, everyone is still mourning Osbourne and talking about his legacy in the music industry and outside of it. But for Hogan, many are not too sad about his death.
