This year has been marked by lots of cruel acts towards innocent people, yet it’s still surprising how incredibly heartless some individuals can be at times. One such individual is a 72-year-old Florida man who, for some reason, didn’t like his neighbor’s cats. Perhaps they were wandering into his property or causing trouble near his house. Whatever the case, he decided to leave out poisoned food trays for the cats when they wandered out into the neighborhood.
Sadly, the cats did eat the food and shortly died after, leaving the Florida family devastated, if not traumatized by their sudden deaths. Before one of the cats died, the owner had it taken to the vet, where they discovered it was poisoning that was the cause. She told WSVN that she and her family noticed trays of food had been placed out on a public sidewalk near their house for several months. The owner then checked her home surveillance camera footage of said sidewalk and found the culprit: the grandpa living down the street.
People Think the Elderly Florida Man Deserves a Worse Punishment
The 72-year-old Florida man was taken into custody but was later released on bond. And while the cat owner doesn’t think he’ll pull a heartless stunt like that again, online users are understandably enraged by his actions. “The hell is wrong with ppl?” remarked a commenter on YouTube. One user guesses that the man’s been trying to kill the cats for a while, and he had just gotten caught. “What a disgusting evil man. I love cats and can’t imagine harming and innocent little animal,” remarked another.
“I hope they saved him some leftovers,” said a Redditor. “What a terrible human,” added another. That all said, it’s obvious that what this Florida man did was heartless and cruel. However, he might have thought the cats were strays and just didn’t want them around, so he took matters into his own hands. However, considering the fact that he placed the poisoned food trays right beside the neighbor’s house with the cats might indicate something much more sinister was at play. And if that’s the case, he deserves all the hate people give him.
