‘Scummy’ Colorado Company Vandalizes Buildings for Free Advertising: ‘If I Ever Need Someone to Disrespect My Property, I Know Who to Call’

Let’s be real here; no one likes advertisements, specifically the intrusive ones that businesses shove in your face. And while an ad on YouTube is easily skippable, a sticker stuck to your property without permission isn’t. Peeling the thing off can be both an inconvenience and mildly infuriating. Yet, this is exactly what a Colorado door and window service business decided to do to its potential customers: vandalize their buildings.

A resident of the local area where the company was putting its unwanted sticker ads posted their annoyance about it on Reddit. “I suppose they think we will just assume this company has done work for us before and give them a call. Sorry, not falling for it,” they remarked, unapologetically. However, the top-upvoted users in the comment section somewhat praised the business for its clever craftiness with its ad campaign. “Pretty smart marketing though LOL. A lazy building manager would call that number if the door broke without even thinking twice!” says one Reddit user.

Reddit Agrees the Sticker Ads Are Clever, But Still Vandalism

This company in Colorado goes around placing stickers on commercial doors trying to attract business. I suppose they think we will just assume this company has done work for us before and give them a call. Sorry, not falling for it.

And while some can appreciate the creative way the ad is done, it “doesn’t make it less shady and or scummy,” as one user put it. One commenter recalled how this marketing tactic actually worked on them when their garage door broke. Apparently, their home’s previous owner was in cahoots with a local door repair company, so the sticker with a phone number was right there when they needed it. Still, that doesn’t make what these kinds of companies do any less of what it is: “branded vandalism.”

“Nothing says untrustworthy locksmith like random vandalism,” remarks a Redditor. “If I ever need someone to disrespect my property, I know who to call,” they say, referring to the Colorado door-and-window-repair business. Some people think that calling the police about the matter would be a good idea, but many doubt the authorities would take action over a couple of illegal stickers. So, it makes it all the worse that these businesses get away with their intrusive ads.
