As the saying goes, ‘don’t shoot the messenger,’ but some people think it’s fine to threaten instead. One mailman in Georgia received such a threat, but in the form of a rather terrifying-looking letter. The note didn’t seem to be directed personally towards him, as it was written for “Post service AKA mailman or woman.” But after receiving such a handwritten threat, I would definitely be determined not to deliver to the individual’s address.
“Can anything be done about this? I feel threatened,” the mail carrier told Reddit, posting photos of the scary and quite ominous-looking letter. The way each word was scribbled across the page in different sizes, along with the very little care to penmanship, tells quite a lot about what sort of person the writer is. The note appears to be a warning to the mailman not to withhold the person’s check, as they have bills to pay. Of course, everyone knows that neither OP nor anyone at the post office is at fault for not giving this person their checks, but this letter might be the reason for him and others not to.
Reddit Wonders Why This Mail Carrier’s Customer Doesn’t Use Direct Deposit
“Is it so hard for them to set up direct deposit? Why people waiting for seemingly routinely expected checks in 2025?” asks the top-upvoted commenter of the mailman’s Reddit post. “The writer of the letter sounds incompetent and deranged.” Some added that it’s probably the person’s doing that they need to deal with using checks instead of electronic or digital methods. “These are the kind of people that constantly lose their debit card and/or overdraw their account and then blame everyone but themselves,” remarks one user.
Others believe that this is nothing more than an empty threat to scare whoever delivers the mail to their house. Still, several users believe OP should “Tell management, tell the postal inspectors.” “To me, this is very threatening/deranged,” comments a Redditor. “There is nothing saving this dumb customer,” added another. Fortunately, the story does have a good ending, as OP says he later delivered the check to the individual. Still, that’s certainly one customer you don’t want to deal with on even the best of workdays.
